The collection has been divided into two series. The Personal series (17 cubic feet and 1 oversized) 1962-2001 relates to Dorwin Teague's personal interests in drawing, boating, and family life. Also included is his personal correspondence. The Professional series (47 cubic feet and 15 oversized) 1967-2000 which makes up the bulk of the collection, consists mostly of his industrial design work which he started after his career as an automobile designer. There are, however, a few automobile sketches scattered throughout the collection.

W. Dorwin Teague, also known as Dorwin Teague and Walter Dorwin Teague, Jr. was the son of the noted designer Walter Dorwin Teague Sr. and became a widely respected industrial designer in his own right.
